Jean Marie Welch, a former French and English educator, taught poetry in her language classes for twenty years. She has been writing poetry professionally for families and businesses since 1992 when she founded Personal Poetry, Inc.

“Poetry is much more than my profession, it is my passion,” says Jean Marie. “I believe all talents and gifts are God-given and are meant to be shared. Every commission that I receive is an exciting challenge. I have enjoyed some very diverse assignments, and I truly pour my heart and soul into each project.”
The national award-winning poet's work has honored numerous corporate presidents, a French Consul General and an American ambassador. Welch has written poetry for a statewide convention of nurses as well as for several national organizations.

In 2001 Childhelp USA, an organization that combats child abuse and neglect, commissioned Welch to write the official prayer for the National Day of Hope. The verse was read on Capitol Hill in 2001 and 2002. In 2003 the National Observances were held in Nashville, and the prayer was read by singer Amy Grant. The printed material that is distributed nationally features Welch's poem opposite a photograph by world renowned photographer, Anne Geddes.
